GIFT for Europe, Third transnational meeting
9-11 January 2017, Ruka – Finland
The third meeting between the “Green Ideas For Tourism for Europe” partners took place between the 9th and 11th of January. All participating organizations were represented, the host being Context Learning, Finland. The Ruka resort, near Kuusamo, was chosen as the location for the meeting, which allowed the team to meet with representatives of the local tourism business and the Finnish vocational education.
Important decisions were made about the structure and content of the educational online tool: the presentation of best practices in sustainable tourism, user account functionality and the testing and practice modules. Timetables were established for the upcoming international trainings in the summer of 2017, at which tourism vocational teachers and trainers will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational tool in details and share their professional experience with colleagues from other parts of their country and the European Union.
The “GIFT for Europe” team visited the Kainu Vocational College at Kuusamo, where Director of education Anne Koski-Heikkinen and teachers in the tourism field presented the school’s work, whereas the project team presented the tool and the planned training and dissemination activities. Another meeting took place with Lotta Sandvik of Outdoor Passion Finland, who presented the different seasonal activities her family business offers Ruka’s visitors.
